Why did the NBA extended the period for the Kings relocation application?

Why not give the Maloofs a big F. U.?

It is as if the NBA is happy with screwing the Sacramento fans and placing a team on a market that already has 2 teams. RETARDED. Stern has lost it, he needs to go.|||An extension was given because Kevin Johnson (mayor of Sacramento) talked to the NBA board of governors this past week. In his talk, he stated that the city of Sacramento is looking into building a new arena, and also the owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins is interested in buying the Kings and keep them in Sacramento (although, the Maloofs say the team is not for sale). Stern granted an extension so that all the details can be ironed out, and everyone has a chance to state their case as to why the team should stay or not stay in Sacramento. He wants everything to be taken into consideration until a concrete decision can be made. The NBA owners must vote by more than 50% for the league to approve of the relocation. If the city of Sacramento can build a new arena and show it has plans to do so very soon, then there might not be any reason for the Kings to move.|||That's good for the City of Anaheim,It just give them more time to work the money figure's out! Also the NBA appointed the owner of the Thunder as head of the relocation committee that will most likely give the Maloofs the OK! The Kings are moving ,The NBA just wants the money details more clear!

Stern has said he won't stop the move................|||@paul Pierce....I consider you the most underrated user in here. Very in depth with all the facts %26amp; details....good job

What happened to the days when every player on the team got an NBA championship trophy?

Nowadays, the winning team gets one NBA championship trophy and keeps it for display. The players only get a ring. When Michael Jordan played (and won), I remember all the Bulls players having a trophy in front of them for the championship parade. What happened between now and then? Did the NBA want to save money?|||That never happened. Winning team gets one trophy and keeps it.

On the last Bulls parade the players had 6 trophies, one for each championship won during the Jordan era. I remember some of the players and Phil sat down (whatever the location was) for questions and each one had a trophy in front, and that was 6. But then again not because they won them all that season.|||Yeah it last occur in 2002 when the La Lakers won the championship every player got one. Now its only rings sucks|||When Michael Jordan and the Bulls won. Jordan would get an MVP trophy. They all got rings. But only the organization got the Larry O'Brian trophy. It's always been like that, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Every sport is like that. the NFL, NHL, Baseball. they all do that.|||maybe they just wanted to make the trophy more valuable. as apposed to haveing like 15 trophies a year keep it one.

How often are overseas basketball players drafted into the NBA?

How often do overseas basketball players make it into the NBA? Are there any current players in the NBA who didn't get drafted out of college into the NBA, but played basketball overseas and later drafted???|||Foreign players are drafted every year and many sign with their teams.

After college Bruce Bowen went undrafted by the NBA and went to Europe to play in a French League. While he is known for his defense in the NBA he was one of the higher scorer in that league averaging almost 30 points a game.

Bowen is one example of many. You can check the different FIBA rosters and see lots of US born guys on those teams.|||a few i think. there are tons of scouts overseas that are constantly watching those guys play. including laker's scout vlade divac whose stationed in spain.

What would you need statistically to become a top nba draft prospect?

Say you made it to a D1 school like Duke. What stats do you need to become considered for an nba draft? Like if you were a Shooting-Guard? I was reading john wall only had 16 PPG and like 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Also, what else do scouts look for in players?|||A shooting guard from Duke would probably need to average at least 17 ppg and shoot fairly decently, at least 44% FG and 35% 3PT.

John Wall's draft status is determined more by his ability to make plays and be a leader rather than his shooting or scoring stats. He can score and shoot the ball a little bit, but that can be improved. It's his speed, ballhandling skills, leadership skills, above average defensive skills and his ability to attack the basket that make him a top prospect. He possesses a lot of qualities that are highly coveted in drafted players but are not usually common.

Those are qualities that scouts look for, because it's hard to find good defensive players and guys willing to lead a team right away. Basically, it's not all in the statistics it's more in how you help a team win. If you do whatever it takes to win you'll be a player to look out for.|||It also depends on your versatility. If you are a balanced D1 player, like Grant Hill or Mike Dunleavy, you are usually a top prospect. Scouts look to see if you have enough versatility and defensive skills to become a prospect. Look at numerous number one overall picks who were versatile defensive threats, such as Antonio McDyess, Kenyon Martin, and Dwight Howard.

It amazes me that statistically, guards are usually first overall picks, but usually, it depends on your size and your acolades, such as rebounding and blocks.|||It will depend on the position that you are aspiring to become as well as your professionalism and passion for the game. They'll also look at your physique and maturity as they want players that can handle the stressful schedule of the league.

A.For a PG: scouts will look after your (1) playmaking abilities - how you pass the ball, how you look for your teammates, how well you orchestrate and execute plays. (2) ball handling. (3) offensive and defensive game.

B. For an SG: scouts will look for your offensive game - perimeter shooting, slashing, 3pt shooting. in short, how effective of a shooter you are.

C. For an SF: basically, scouts will look for an all-around player that pretty much knows a little bit of everything with particular focus on what the team needs. They can go for an offensive minded SF (just like Carmelo), or a defensive minded one (like Artest), or if they're lucky, find someone like LeBron who does everything.

D. For a PF: it will also depend on what a team needs. if they want a PF who specializes in post up moves, then they'll choose someone with the height and weight advantage who knows how to bang it up inside the court (like Zach Randolph, Al Jefferson). If they want a PF that's finesse, knows how to make mid-range jumpers, then they focus on the offensive game of the player (like Nowitzki and Yi Jianlian.

C. For a C: inside domination is very important. must have the height and reach advantage as well as the physical conditioning to be chosen as a top pick for C position. Must know how to rebound effectively, box out, defense oriented, and has good offensive skills (post ups, face up jumpers near the ring, etc.) Being athletic is optional, but advantageous (like Dwight).|||steals block fg % 3point% ft% strength

Will the NBA ever be the biggest sport in the US again like it was during the Jordan-era?

In the 90's basketball was the biggest and most popular sport in the country and Michael Jordan became a global icon and one of the most recognized athletes ever.

However nowadays the NFL and MLB have surpassed basketball as the top sports in America. I even think nowadays college football is more popular then NBA basketball.

Why is this?

NFL football is Americas passion now and I think it will be the top sport long into the foreseeable future but will NBA basketball ever be on the same level as football or at least surpass baseball as the # 2 sport?

What was it during the Jordan-era that made NBA basketball the # 1 sport?|||No...................

The NFL will always be the biggest.

Their will be a lockout in the NBA after next season ,That means the NBA falls below MLB|||cuz jordan was a great plaer

What is the most positive impact that the NBA has had in America?

I just watch a little of the NBA last night. I always thought it was fun watching the stories of the players unfold. I learned that its more than putting a basketball through a hoop. The NBA does so much to entertain and create jobs. I think it is positive.

What is the most positive impact the NBA has had in America?|||The NBA Cares program is more of a PR stunt than anything. The REAL positive impact the NBA has made is that it is getting kids off the streets.|||Don't know about America, but in regards to the world. His name is Dikembe Mutombo that's what the most positive impact the NBA has given the world and that is Dikembe Mutombo.|||The NBA cares program is really a great thing. I would say that is the most positive impact. |||Providing rich, hot, sexy men to us common woman

Who is the worst defensive player in the NBA based exclusively on effort?

Defensive rankings of NBA players confuse me. When I read that players like Steve Nash, Melo, and Monta Ellis are lousy defensively it makes me wonder: Are they truly bad due to a physical inability to play effective NBA defense OR are they bad because they simply are very offensive-minded and don't really try hard on the defensive end?

Answer this when naming the laziest, couldn't give a damn defensive players in the NBA.....What players truly give little or no effort?|||I always find it humorous watching Carmelo play defense. Hes always flat footed and will make one or two efforts towards defense when the ball comes to his area. Overall hes mainly just a drill cone on the defensive end whos looking for the quick outlet pass on the turnover or rebound. This will definitely be hampered this season with the departure of Camby, one of the leagues leading rebounders the past few years. |||where did you read that those players are bad defenders?

Monta is still learning the game, plus, he's playing on the Warriors who are the worst defensive team... mostly because of Don Nelson who likes a fast game. Nelson likes the run and gun offense, so it's hard to get back on defense with that style of offense.

Nash is getting older and is a little slower and not a very strong player physically, so when he goes up against players like Baron Davis, who are strong, or Chris Paul who are quick and fast, then he has a hard time. Also, he's on a team like the Warriors who like to run a fast break type of offense... or they did before Shaq.

Melo, well, he just like to score. He doesn't care much about getting back on defense, so out of star players, yeah, he's one of the worst defenders.

So to recap:

Monta is a bad defender due to inexperience and the system he plays in.

Nash is a bad defender because of physical limitations

Melo is a bad defender because he's lazy and works more on his offensive game, but I believe his rebound numbers are up this year.

|||Nash tries he is a bad defender, but you said based on effort and he does TRY.

The no effort bad defenders are as you said Carmelo Anthony and Monta Ellis. I would say Carmelo is the worst defender because not only does he try, but the guy has the body to be a great defender. He is huge and intimidating and does not use it for his advantage.|||Wow that guy Que Que actually thinks bruce bowen is a bad defender. Yeah he had some crazy thing in the past but he is Bruce Bowen. Anyway my answer has got to be someone who doesn't care about D someone like Carmelo Anthony. He is one of those players who want to get back on offense and forget the D.|||CARMELO FRICKIN ANTHONY

It pisses us Nuggets fans off when he does that, which he does about all the time lol. He just stands in one spot and takes a drunk swing at the ball whenever it gets near him. Then he runs back on offense and plays his best. And then back to defense...|||JJ Redick, did you see the game bet. Bos and Orl?? Ray Allen play and push him around??? Is The NBA lottery system the best way for the league to determine the draft order?

Obviously a couple of teams in the NBA draft felt like they got the short end of the stick in the lottery format for the top draft picks. IN the lottery era only 4 teams that finished with the worst record actually got the first pick. At the sametime the NBA doesn't want teams tanking and that is why the lottery system was originally put in place I would like to see suggestions the NBA might consider to make the process better.|||i think it's the fairest way there is. it doesn't matter how bad you suck. you don't throw games. period. it gives the highest chances to the worst teams, without making it a definite so teams are less likely to race for the bottom.

the only "better" (haha in theory NOT practice) way would be to get a committee together and have them sit around and rank all the teams.. heh.. and for a kicks you could throw some computer rankings in there|||its good because a sucky team cant lose on purpose to get the number one pick|||The lottery is fair in that it is weighted to have the teams who have the worst record, the most number of chances to obtain the top lottery pick.|||for now its the best way......|||yes it is cause teams shouldnt be allowed to lose on purpose like the idiot celtics and grizzlies did....they both deserved what happened to them for giving as much effort as people in rec leagues do. the lottery makes them pay for disgracing the game|||I like the way it is.

If you lose you get a better chance at "winning" the top pick but it's still only a chance.

For this reason you can tank you season to improve your chances but as most teams find out it is certainly no gaurantee of the top spot.

The teams that feel they got ripped (Boston, Memphis, Milwaukee) need to realise that for example Boston only had a 38.7 percent chance of getting the number one or two pick.

Odds are they weren't going to get one of them, so there's no reason to feel entitled to the one or two spot just because they sucked.

The systems seems very fair to me and I certainly can't think of anything better!|||Well its quite not fair, becuase sometimes the teams are just bad, and need alot of help. Now they cant recicve one player, like Oden or Durant, that can put seats in the stands.|||It's interesting because the accusations were flying about certain teams tanking on purpose. Without the lottery they would have been rewarded but with it then it really doesn't get you what your after. In this case it works I suppose.|||hey its like playing the lotto for millions. the balls came up randomly and u hoping your numbers come up and they don't, that's just the way it is and its only fair. the Celtics or the grizzlies don't need a #1 pick. Not too long ago Celtics and the grizzlies were contenders and now they suck. its time for other teams to shine and get back where they were in the prime like the jail blazers and sonics. Portland haven't had a successful season since arvydas sabonis was playing center. kicks rocks grizzlies and Celtics!|||one fair way of preventing teams to not tank games is to give just ONE ping pong ball to each of the 5 worst teams to determine picks 1-5...|||One thing you have to keep in mind is that the NBA has added 3 new expansion teams within the last decade therefore, decreasing the odds of getting the top 3 picks in comparison to before that. You used to have 11 teams in lottery and now you have 14 teams. Do the math and you will see that when there is more competition, your odds will likely decrease, even if you have the most ping pong balls bouncing around for you.

As the NBA adds more expansion teams in the future, you can assume that the odds of winning the lottery will diminish even further but this system is still the best way to go. It may seem unfair to allocate the teams that do struggle with horrible records along with the teams who tank on purpose but in this day and age, it's very hard to distinguish between which team is tanking and which team isn't.

You also have playoffs teams (Kings, Clippers, Grizzlies) a year ago that have been hit with injuries and end up in the lottery. So in conclusion, the system of letting luck decide a team's fate may still be a slightly better choice than allowing teams to determine their own position in the lottery.

How long does it take for a high school player to be considered for an NBA draft?

I've heard that a high school player has to have speant at least one year at college before he is eligible for an NBA draft. Is that true? If it is, could you please tell me where in the rules it says that?|||Thats technically not true. While you can't go straight from high school to NBA anymore, the rules say nothing about college. All it says is that you have to be at least 19 years old and be 1 year removed from high school.

Most people will just go to college, but like last year Brandon Jennings didn't want to go to college, so he signed a 1 year contract with a team in Italy so he could get paid and will enter the draft this year. He's still projected as a lottery pick, but I can't really see how seeing as he's playing against lesser competition in Europe and he's averaging 6.5ppg 2 assits and 2 boards as a point guard, and 60% free throws and 15% 3s. Someone like him would have been better off in college I think.

One other option is to go to the D-League. Granted, NBA D-League is kinda like a minor league, but they allow entry at 18.|||You have to be 19 by the time the season starts to declare for the draft. You don't necessarily have to have spent a year in college.|||rules changed. its one year may be changed to two soon. look on NCAA website for answers.|||You must 1st graduate out of high school now.so its not at a high school age.|||senior or junior

cause me and my friends are planning on creating a forum based game that will be using 1996-1997 NBA player names and we will be using it for profit so will we get sued or are we in violation of copyright laws?|||Well you need to be in agreement with the NBA players association. The NBA can only take your money, but the Feds can put you in jail.

Is the NBA becoming a joke by not allowing the game to be played fairly?

Not calling fouls on the home team, not calling traveling, what's the deal with the NBA? The second round of the playoffs has been a debacle, and it has exposed many flaws of the officiating. Why can't the NBA just allow the game to be played as is? When a home team wins by 20 and then loses by 20 away on the road, it's kind of glaring that something is not right.

I get more disillusioned with the NBA everyday, it's a shame.|||Your question, which is more of a statement is absolutely one of the truest things I've seen, read, heard about or known in the last ten to fifteen years. I too, get more disillusioned with it everyday. If you even look at just the aspect of what is travelling. I honestly don't know anymore when it comes to the NBA. Starting to move or drive, without starting to dribble first is completely normal now. And exactly how many steps is someone allowed to take on their way towards the basket? Somewhere between 2 and 5 it seems.

Oh yeah, and that other example you cited of playoff caliber team and the point disparity when they win at home and lose on the road. My God! Referees ought to be praying for forgiveness of their sins during every timeout.

It's unwatchable.|||No, it is becoming a joke because players and fans worry about refs rather than solely focusing on the game and winning (e.g. Cry-baby Rasheed Wallace with all his technical fouls and your question.). Plain simple- the refs ought not to tell the players and fans how to play and enjoy the game respectively and plays and fans should not whine to and on refs in regards to officiate. Period. Nothing fans or players do or say will change a call. Leave worrying about the quality of the refs to the NBA league and General Managers. There are men literally paid millions annually to worry about stuff. How much do you get paid to worry about it?|||i agree, i am a kobe fan and a laker fan but even i see the stuff that kobe and the lakers do that gives them unfair advantages. the other team that cheats and NEVER gets called is the utah jazz, watch for three seconds and lots of no call fouls|||the thing is that the referees are not allowed to review the fouls. they are only allowed to review fights and game winners and all that.

Why do NBA western conference playoff games start so late?

Like today for the Lakers-Phoenix game 1, it starts at 9:00 pm eastern time, WTF? Why don't they start it earlier like 5:00 or something. Maybe this is one of the reasons why the NFL and MLB has better ratings and more views watching their playoff games. Instead of watching NBA playoff games at 9:00 pm eastern time, people are probably sleeping or going out having fun like watching movies, night clubs, etc.|||They do start at 5. 5 pm their time. The NFL can get away with it cause all their games are on a sunday.|||Because the lakers went 6 games with OKC|||I completely agree, it is idiotic and stupid. They figure that if it is at 9:00 our time, and 6:00 west coast time, both sides can watch it, and it only throws off their schedule slightly|||because 9:00 ET is 6:00 Western Time. Besides it wasn't as if the Grizzlies didn't get anything out of it. Look at Marc Gasol, the guy is a becoming a top center in the league. Besides if it were the trade of the century the Lakers would have easily won the championship that season, but didn't because another team traded KG to the Celtics (how come no one says anything about that one? You know the one where McHale (former Celtic) got through?) Besides all that, the Lakers already had the best record in the West when they made that trade. One of the reasons Kobe got the MVP that season.|||it made them bigger, stronger and better. they still technically are the best frontline team (gasol and bynum-when healthy and odom) in the nba. the west was wide open at one time-circa about three/four years ago. then the lakeshow got gasol. it made that team 2x better and deeper. first off, they got something for nothing. second, they got a 'young' center/power forward who is probably the best 2nd option in the game. when you combine that with the best 1st option in the game (i'm not a kobe fan, i'm just honest-my team is orlando) it changes everything. everyone was now scrambling to be a powerhouse. in my opinion, it is probably the 'archaic' reason that the guys in miami linked up this summer. look at boston, they were the only team who could pose a legit threat to those dudes....until the next game changer, MIA. trades like that change the nba landscape b/c it forces teams to look hard and themselves, and find out what it TRULY takes to be head n shoulders better than the rest. look at boston, orlando and miami. they are elite teams with the lakers. the rest of the teams are good, but there are only a few that can win a title. trades like this one make the strong teams stronger, and the weaker ones more susceptible to being in the cellar for years to come.|||It moved an established all-star from a struggling team to a number one team, during a season where that number one team lost their center for the year. Pretty much saving the Lakers season and giving them the basis for their current championship run. I would have to say it changed the landscape quite a bit. Lakers don't win any chamipionships without Gasol.|||It was a great trade for the lakers but a terrible one for the nba. To me it was like the new york yankees buying their championship. It was a disgrace and was a good way to cover the bad idea to get rid of shaq and the rape thing so they had to get kobe a new batman.|||it gave la the missing piece they needed to dominate the west for years to come. before that you could pick any team to win the west it was even between phoenix, san antonio and dallas. now its la then a massive gap followed by the other good teams like denver, san antonio, dallas, utah etc.|||Lakers are now dominant with an all star caliber player. Otherwise, Kobe would win like 4 MVPs and never make it pass the second round. I mean. If you looked at it the Lakers made the finals 3 straight times since they got him and the West is tough for the past 3 years too. So the Lakers are now bigger, have a better passer and have more role players from their bench (Lamar Odom)|||Because he gave the lakers so much versitility with his height, speed, and accuracy. It was almost like getting shaq back in his prime for the lakers because of his talent.|||Because it heped the Lakers so much that other teams who were known as the best teams in the league at the time, had to take a backseat.|||Shows how the Lakers cheat to get what they want.|||Kobe finally was able to win a playoff series after Shaq left.|||KOBE BEST|||one of the best and worst trades in the nba|||it made a all-star team in LA

a) John Havlicek makes a bank shot with 1 tic left to lead Celtics to apparent 1pt victory in second overtime, but refs said there's still a tic left. A technical foul was called and Celtics hit free throw

b) with 1 tic left, GARFIELD HEARD makes a turnaround shot to tie game which led to 3rd overtime

3. John Stockton's game winner in Game 6 of 1997 West Finals to lead Utah to NBA finals in 1997

4. John Paxson's game winning 3 pointer with 2 tics left in Game 6 of NBA Finals, Bulsl defeat Phoenix for their first threepeat

5. Magic Johnson's hook shot in Game 4 of NBA FInals Celtics vs. Lakers

5. (tie) Larry Bird's steal and assist to Dennis Johnson who makes difficult layup as Celtics steal Game 5 of 1987 East Finals versus Detroit|||In my opinion,

1. Michael Jordan. Game 6 1998 finals vs utah. and Jordan's shot over Craig Ehlo 1990 (i think)

When did they start double teaming in the NBA?

Me and my friend like to debate a lot over who's the better basketball player; Jordan or Kobe? And he argues that when Jordan would play for the bulls, double teaming in the NBA was nonexistent. When exactly did they start?|||Way Back during George Mikan's dominance!!!

G0t it? Go0d!!!|||your friend obviously doesn't watch much basketball if he thinks kobe's better than Jordan

MJ might be one of the most overrated players ever, but he still arguably the best player of all time, the only players IMO that you can make a case of being better than MJ are Bird and Magic|||kobes not better than jordan. period.

and whoever gave me the thumbs down in 100% wrong.|||http://www.is-onfire.org/?ref=4198|||Wow, only someone not around in the 90's would say that, of course they double-teamed in the 90's, Jordan often got Triple teamed even, like the first answer said, all the way back in the 40's-50's they started double-teaming.

And don't even compare Kobe to Jordan, because Jordan has that one, in every category, he simply was the GOAT.|||They started double teaming maybe even befor the NBA. Show your friend this and see how jordan sometimes got the entire team on him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLv2F33sn鈥?/a>

Much respect for Kobe but Jordan is the GOAT|||you have been allowed to double team a player forever. just in jordans day you couldnt double team a man before he had the ball (im not too sure if you can today or not) in mj's day you couldnt play zone defense either.

What would happen to the Lakers if the NBA instituted a hard cap at 60 mil?

What if NBA made a rule that teams could only use minimum salary players after a team 60 mil dollars.

Everyone beside Fisher, Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum would have to leave LA and they would have to fill out their roster with D. League players meaning no Artest, Odom, Shannon Brown, Steve Blake, Matt Barnes.|||Lakers will still be as competitive as they are now. I don't think it's right to lower the salary cap without lowering the maximum contracts for players. Players are the ones who are going to be affected by lower salaries.|||Teams will not lose players if the cap is at 60 million! They just won't add any more players!Teams like Miami ,NY have more to worry about!Because their stuck with the players they have................

What's the difference between NBA live and NBA 2k 10 on PS3?

I'm trying to decide what I should get. NBA Live or NBA 2k 10. I've always used NBA Live since I first got them. But I don't want to waste my money on 2k. I want the better one. Tell as much as you can about NBA LIve 2k 10 and NBA Live 10 on PS3|||Well i owned nba live 08 and nba 2k9 on the ps3. Nba live 08 was better than 2k8 while nba 2k9 was better than nba live 09. First of all, you should try the demo(its free at the playstation store) and see which game you like better. I tryed the demo and came to this conclusion: NBA live 10 wins this year by a slight margin. Nba 2k10 is the same exact thing as 2k9 except for slightly better graphics. Nba liv 10 has slightly, slightly better graohics than 2k10, and better gameplay. i played 2k9 for 6 months. the first 4 months i just couldnt believe how amazing it was, then it got old cuz the gameplay is kind of fake, and got bored. I'd prefer live 10, but since it is your money, dont listen to anyone and try out the demo yourself and decide for yourself which you like.

I'm trying to save you from wasting your hard earned green.|||Well I say play the demo. Now in my opinion I say buy nba live 10. I have played both retail version and I think that live plays better. I like the way the players move, the outside game of live and live is better than 2k on the dribble. However, 2k has a better inside game, but not as much as control on the dribble game.|||Alot people are gonna say 2k is better But for real Live is better this year last year 2k was buy live if you have been playing live you should keep playing Ive played both this year and 10 is better. Can NBA referrees be replaced during the NBA finals?

It's becoming painfully obvious the refs in the NBA finals are not up to the challenge and are missing calls left and right. Last night they were doing ok then fell asleep the last two minutes of the game. Running to instant replay every other team possession. This on top of bad officiating nights the last couple of games. What can a frustrated NBA fan do to get a decent refereed game?|||David Stern calls the shots on what he wants to be seen and done. All he cares about are ratings. He couldn't care less about poor officiating. Just look at the 2002 Western Conference Finals series between the Kings and Lakers, especially game 6.|||It doesn't matter who the refs are. It's obvious that the NBA needs more younger officials and some of the long-tenured officials needs to be let go. I watch the NBA and it's obvious that the officials are making bad calls or missing them. Getting a decent refereed game is what all NBA fans need and the only way to get that is to have good officials who call the game equally on both sides.

Who is the most overrated player in the NBA draft?

I think that Josh McRoberts is the most overrated player in the NBA Draft. He is slow, unpolished offensively, and overagressive defensively. Not only that but he is very inconsistent. He will be the biggest bust of the first round along with Julian Wright.|||I agree with you Josh McRoberts is overrated. He was only a sophomore but he wasn't that great. Just wait in 5 years and no one will remember him. Besides he's from Duke. All Duke players that make it to the NBA kind of fade away.

josh mcroberts will be a bust. he sucked at duke and he will suck even more in the NBA. as my local radio station said and i quote, "There is soft, and then there is Mcroberts soft." he is too soft to be in the nba especially banging down low. mcroberts was very conservative at duke, he never asserted himself in the offense, he always kind of just disappeared. should have stayed in school.

another player is joakim noah. i think he will be good, but not worth of a top 10 pick. he is a fiery player and leader with tons of passion and energy except he has 0 offense. he is like tyson chandler but uglier and less athletic. noah is a good rebounder and shot blocker but thats it, no offense, not worthy of a top 10 pick and even dick vitale and donovan said that horford is much better than noah and its true.|||Joakim Noah-he'll be nothing more than a role player in the NBA, definitely not worth a top 10 pick. He hardly has any upside.|||I think Corey Brewer is|||i think Spencer hawes is up there. i think Julian wright will be fine and mcroberts will be a good role player somewhere in the league simply because of his fundamentals. jason smith should also be on that list. any big besides oden i suppose. everyone is center happy and undrafted talents get lottery looks. it pisses me off|||The big tall guy is the most overrated. Too thin, unaggressive, along with weak rebounding averages for a project player that some scouts dub as the 2nd best center after Oden in the draft. Hawes will probably be this year's version of Adam Morrison.

How many NBA teams came back from an 0-2 deficit and heading on the road?

I know that the chances from coming back from an 0-2 deficit is very very slim, just around 10% if i'm not mistaken. Anyone know if any team has ever come back from an 0-2 deficit and heading into the road? If I were to guess, this has probably only happened once in NBA history. But I want to make sure, anyone know the answer to this?|||No, the 2006 finals the Heat went down 0-2, but they lost on the road and headed back home. The Dallas-Houston series is the last time something like this happened. After dropping the first two at home, Dallas won three in a row, lost one, and blew the Houston Rockets away by 40 in Game 7.|||i'm sorry i can't give you the direct answer but tothose saying the heat did it in 06, he's asking what team came back down 2-0 while going on the ROAD. Miami had 3 home games in a row after losing the first 2 games in dallas. just making a correction

and i couldn't give you a direct answer because well.. many teams in the past have come down from a 2-0 defecit. it's much more common as opposed to being down 3-0 which no one has ever come back from to actually win the series.|||add this team to that list:

Can a basketball player that declares for the NBA Draft and goes undrafted return to college?

If a college basketball player declares for the NBA Draft and does not get drafted by a team, he's allowed to return to his college right? I'm not talking about being eligible to play ball still, I'm just talking about attending the college he previously went to.|||Yeah he can return to take classes and continue their education without a problem, they just can't play ball because there is a deadline to remove yourself from the draft and since they would of went through the draft that means they wouldnt of removed themselfs in time.|||Yes, the player can return to college. He can even return and play ball, unless he did something to make himself ineligible. If a player declares for the draft, but withdraws his name before a certain deadline (typically 7-10 days before the actual day of the draft), that player remains eligible to play college sports, unless he did something like hire an agent or sign an endorsement deal.

The NBA even has an advisory committee of coaches and scouts that gives players some indication of where they're likely to be drafted, so they can return to college if they don't like what they hear.|||Yes if he does not sign with a agent. Once you sign with a agent, you are locked in but if you dont then yea you can come back but as far as changing schools you would have to ask the NCAA that question.|||yea he can go back to school just for education, Shaq did it years back. but they couldn't play college ball cus they already declared themself as a pro|||yea of course but they cant play ball though Shaq did it and so did Vince Carter.|||If he hires an agent he can't return.|||sure as long as he has the money to pay for it.

Why do nba teams wear the same colored sneakers sometimes?

I know that some nba teams have a tradition of wearing certain colored sneakers during games (the bulls used to always wear black sneakers on the road). Isnt the NBA team that scores the most points per game on average most likely to win the championship?

Why or why not? What team has the best scoring in the NBA and does this team have the best chance at winning the ring?|||No, I would say that the team that has the highest point differential would have the best chance of winning it all. That is the average points scored per game minus the average points given up per game. A team that scores 120 ppg but gives up 119 ppg wouldn't have as good of a chance as a team that scores 100 ppg but only gives up 89 ppg. It's just about a guarantee that one of the teams that finish in the top three in that category will win it all.|||Also, the team that doenst allow as much points per game (opponent)

Top 5 offense and defense...both!|||No the team that allows the least points has the best chance.

Defense%26gt;Offense|||No...Points per game only depends on the defense there playing...PPG is only relevant if that team can score the minimum amount of points against any Defense.|||no. you play every team in the nba twice in the regular season so you could have a high scoring average but you have to think that if you play a team that doesnt let you score as much as you normally do wont that make a difference|||Not really, there are so many different factors, however, being able to score well would certainly help your chances. And the highest scoring team in the NBA is the Phoenix Suns. They don't have the best chance to win a title, but they have a shot at least.|||it depends greatly on the other team's defense. if someone is great at shooting, but the person they are playing against is beastly at defense, then the person that is great at shooting, won't get as many points.

When a team steals home court in the NBA playoffs, what is the resulting schedule?

The NBA playoff rounds (with the exception of the finals) are formatted like so:

2 - 2 - 1 - 1 -1

With the the dashes separating the home games of each teams. But say the visiting team wins the first game. They are said to have stolen home court advantage. How does the schedule change?|||What up Jay,

The Schedule does not change when a team: "Steals homecourt advantage."

In a best of 7 series- the team with homecourt advantage before the series starts has 4 of the 7 games at home- so they have an advantage in that they have an extra home game and if every team won their home games they would win the series.

So say a team on the road goes and steals game one. (IE: Rockets to the Lakers). Now there are 6 games left (3 in L.A. and 3 in Houston) but if all goes to form Houston would win the series in game 6 because they "stole a game in L.A."

That's why in a best of 7 the objective of the road team is always to steal at least one game on the road. They do not change the schedule.

Hope that makes sense and is helpful.

Nickster|||The schedual doesnt change at all. There will always be 4 games total for the higher seed (game 1,2,5,7) and there will always be 3 games for the lower seed (game 3,4,6.) If a visiting team but if the visiting team wins the first game they are just up in the series 1-0 and tht means IF they win all their home games they win the series. Still the schedual of who plays where never changes. Its probably just a figure of speech if they STEAL homecourt by getting the first game but it doesnt mean the schedual changes,it simply means they are up 1-0 and now if they win all their homegames they win the series.|||Pikachu.|||it doesnt change the location or schedules at all, its just a figure of speech cause now if they can win at home they can take the series without going back on the road|||becuase theyll have 3 home court games still and they need to win three games and if they win the second away game than u can count the series over

I know this question is a little broad, however I'm just curious to hear some opinions from some NBA fans. Amidst the super-star power out there this playoff season are the officials still being fair or are they making horrible calls? Do they seem to give technical fouls out like candy? Should the league take action against bad calls from officials?|||The NBA needs to do something about the refs. I am a BB fan, not rooting for any one of the four teams, just really enjoy watching. However, the refs are ruining it....I hate to call someone a cheater, but c'mon. Something is obviously going on here.|||Kobe sucks the refs off.|||Fair?

Are you watching Game 5 right now?|||The refs favor the Cavs/Lakers. They keep making horrible call after horrible call. And they always miss the ones that actually exist.|||No because the NBA wants Lebron and Kobe to meet in the finals because of all the money they will make.

Are NBA players smudging off their tattoos or is it just camera trick that I see on TV?

I've noticed recently when I watch NBA on tv, a lot of players have smudged off tattoos. At first when I saw it on one player I thought how stupid the player is for not sticking with his tattoo. But then I kept seeing more players with smudged-off tattoos. Wait a minute, that can't be right. So are tv networks censoring the tattoos by smudging them off?|||Let's hope the youth and the athletes are removing their tattooes and giving up their rock music. They are showing a dangerous example to impressionable youth. Tattooes frequently cause blood poisoning. You will have to type in to a search engine. I can give you websites but I would be accused of solicitation.|||http://nextaxpro.spaces.live.c鈥?/a>

Which NBA player breaks most number of glass during the official games?

I have seen MJ does it also Shaq did couple of times. I am just wondering it is possible to list down first 5 NBA players who break the glass during the offical game (not practices).|||Shaq never actually broke the glass on the backboard he pulled down the basket by breaking the support beam. Darryl Dawkins is best known glass backboard breaker of all time because when he played they didn't have the break away rims and all the support they have in them now. Now they're pretty much unbreakable that why the glass didn't break and Shaq collapsed the whole basketball support system which is actually way more impressive.|||Shaq used to break the glass during the 90's, I think he did it once and the other is when Shaq pulled down the whole court. now that's power!|||Shaq during his orlando days twice %26amp; Dawkins during his phily days don't know how many but he was the original glass breaker. Both break glass with sick power dunks!|||I only know of darryl dawkins

Which current NCAA player is most likely to win the NBA 3 point shootout during his career?

Im going Stephen Curry, just a sweet stroke and touch from being the arch. He can bury it like his father Dell. I think he'll win an NBA 3point shootout before he retires.

Are NBA basketball tickets too expensive for most people to afford?

I was looking into buying some tickets for a pre-season game and the least expensive option was $60 which I cannot afford. I am wondering if this seems expensive to most others too. Is NBA only available to the rich?|||There is an NBA league rule that every team make at least 500 $10 tickets available for each game. Never the best seats, but definitely affordable. Contact the team box office (not ticketmaster) and ask if these tickets are still available. If available, they probably will refer you ticketmaster to purchase.|||I think that all pro sports have priced themselves out of the reach of most people. A lot of fans won't go to the games because they can't afford to take their families. For the typical 4 person family in your example, you're talking about $240 just for the tickets. You know you're going to spend another $60 on a few dogs, sodas and popcorn so now you're looking at $300. Parking is an additional cost and you'll probably have to buy a couple of souveniers for the kids so you're more than likely going to spend $400 in the 3 hours it takes to play the game.

I think most people would rather spend the $400 on something that the whole family can enjoy for more than 3 hours.

I think you can blame the players and the owners for the price of tickets. Everyone should have the right to make a good living but the owners could refuse to pay them that much. If the players didn't make so much money, the tickets would be affordable by everyone.|||$60 a ticket is probably about average depending on what city you live in. Is it only for the rich? I would say many people can afford to go to a game or two a season and they are not rich. Is it expensive? Absolutely. It is basically the law of supply and demand. If no one was willing to pay $60 and they were not selling out each game they would lower the ticket prices. The NBA is still setting attendance records year after year so I expect if anything the tickets will continue to rise in price.

You might go to the teams web site and see if they have any promotional nights. Some teams have lower prices for a couple games a year or on weekdays.

Personally I don't think NBA basketball is that great live unless you have courtside seats or very good seats. Those seats are typically very expensive...can be a 1000 plus. You are probably better off watching the game on TV or if you want to see live basketball catch a college game or good high school teams.|||Well, first off, it depends who paying to go see. Tickets for the Lakers are going to be more expensive than for the Raptors. Location does play a part in ticket pricing. Are they too expensive?

When you start getting to the lower sections, I would have to say that they are. Will that change? Not until they lower salaries to a more realistic amount, which don't bet on that happening anytime soon.|||its not just basketball. its all sports every team wants a new state of the art stadium and ticket prices are what helps pay for those investments. with the economy as bad as it has been the average person prob couldnt imagine taking a family of 4 to a game. ticket prices are out of hand everywhere. i havent been to an nba game in 11 0r 12 years and it was when the 76ers stadium was newer we had mid court llower upper level seats and they were 28 bucks each and that was 12 years ago i dont even want to think about what those seats cost now.|||That is not expensive for me. Whenever I go to NBA games I usually sit in the 1st or 2nd row, so I spend roughly $300 a ticket.|||This depends on the team who you're going to see play.

What is an interesting way to start off a story about a female NBA player?

I'm talking about the NBA with Derrick Rose, not the WNBA that no one cares about.|||I'm a female high school basketball player and to say that no one cares about the WNBA is really rude. I look up to players like Tamika Catchings, Two time Olympic Gold Medalist and WNBA all star, because that's what I aspire to be. Just because you don't care for the WNBA, doesn't mean that you have to hate on them. I'm really not trying to be mean but comments like that really bother me.

An interesting story would be about a WNBA player who maybe aspires to play in the NBA. Imagine the NBA if a women played? How would the fans act? What would happen to the industry?

How early should I get to a NBA game?

This may sound like a stupid question, and it kind of is. I'm planning on taking my girlfriend to a seattle sonics game on Feb 2. I have never been to an NBA game before and am not really sure how early I should get to the game.|||well it depends if you live close to the arena like 30 min away go about 1 hour early and if its by driving and in the morning or afternoon leave really early cuhz so much traffic trust me i travel allott|||anywhere between an hour and a half to tipoff depends on if u want to look around arena(always fun)

What NBA player who has not won a Championship deserves it the most?

What NBA player who has not won a Championship do you think deserves it the most and why?|||John Stockton. He was in the Finals twice against the Bulls and lost twice against them and he played his heart and missed a few clutch shots, which was uncharacteristic of him. He is a career leader in assists and steals. Excellent play maker. The Utah Jazz booed him on draft day, yet by the end of his career, they immortalized him on a statue near the arena. He didn't complain and just loved the game. I wished his career would have ended in a championship, but he still has my respect.|||I agree with Bill. Stockten did more than his share.

Today I would go with Dirk. He too has done it all without the ring. Guys like CP3 and Carmelo come to mind but at least they are still young.

All Time. Patrick Ewing. The guy deserved at least one.|||I agree with Stockton. The man played his heart out and really deserved a ring.|||Steve nash. He took his team into playoffs and stuff. But they always lose to the same team, the spurs.

What NBA team has the most bandwagon hopping teams?

In other words, in your opinioin, what NBA team gets the most fans to root for them because they are a good team? Is it the Lakers because of Kobe, or now the Heat because of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh?|||I was actually hoping that someone would ask this question. The answer to that is the new big 3. Everyone you know will now have a reason to claim that A. They've always been a Heat fan, B. Since they're Lebron Fans, they automatically get to become a HEAT Die Hard, or C. People clearly realize that this will become the NBA's greatest Dynasty so they couldn't care less about the criticism that comes along with jumping ship.

Furthermore, no one just jumps ship to the Lakers. The Lakers are one of those teams that are either truly loved, or truly hated. The Heat doesn't have as much history as the Lakers, but truly has a bigger edge due to the addition of the new big 3 aka. the best NBA team ever!

People have already been going crazy, with the website buyheattickets.com crashing literally within hours of Lebron's announcement. I don't think there's any question that the NBA team that will have the most bandwagon hoppers will be the newbig3.com|||Most people that are knowledgeable about basketball usually don't bandwagon. However, those that are not knowledgeable (common people) do and they usually root for the team that they know, which would be the Lakers. Lakers have history and along with it annoying bandwagoners.

As a Heats fan, I too realize bandwagoners will come here. But, there are still many loyal fans.|||I dont think fans will root for the heat just cuz their good, their rooting for lebron James or D-wade. How can you start a petition to allow street ballers or dleague player to participate in the nba dunk contest?

While the first half of the nba season going on, whoever is sponsoring the dunk contest could have a nation wide tour/contest to see who will participate in the nba dunk contest.|||for starters just so u kno where im comin from with this info, im a sports agent with several players in the NBA.

it is impossible for non-nba players to participate in the dunk contest, D-League players are a different story, you could petition to the NBA commissioner's office because you are actually part of the the league, but anything under the NBA which includes the dunk contest is Legally Licensed to players who are contracted to the NBA or its Affiliates, in other words a referee has a better chance of being in the dunk contest then a street baller

Are NBA basketball tickets too expensive for most people to afford?

I was looking into buying some tickets for a pre-season game and the least expensive option was $60 which I cannot afford. I am wondering if this seems expensive to most others too. Is NBA only available to the rich?|||I was shocked at how expensive tickets were to Bobcats games last year. I went to one game and sat in the lower level, in the section diagonal to the court and the ticket were $85 a piece, so I spent $170 for one game. The seats were great but I was expecting something more along the lines of $50 but you pay that much to be in the rafters. What is the most frustrating is when you go to a game, like the one I went to last year, and you see so many empty mid-court seats that sell for upwards of $150-$200 per ticket. It seems to me they would rather off you the chance to upgrade your $85 ticket at the door, for say, $25 more instead of letting the seats go unpurchased. Also, this would greatly increase the excitement and energy at the games.|||dont get me started on baseball games 8 dollar waters and the only reason NBA players get played so much is because there are only 12-15 players on a team NFL has 53 MLB has 25 players so you cant pay the players as much unlike nba were you can pay your good players alot and cheap players little

Knicks tickets are ridiculous, especially considering the team you pay to watch.|||the tickets are ridiculous!!! So EXPENSIVE... I totally agree with you. getting to the venue is pricey enough, plus the tickets and snacks will cost you an arm and a leg by the end of the game.|||If you buy your ticket on the day of the game; you'll be able to get a seat for $10 or less.

EVERY team is required by the NBA to hold and then sell 1000 tickets on the day of the game and to sell those tickets for no more than $10.

Some teams sell those game-day tickets for less than the required $10. Last season, you could buy a game day ticket for these prices:

Dallas Mavericks $2

Portland Trailblazers $3.96

Indiana Pacers $4

Minnesota T-Wolves $4.62

New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets all chose to sell their tickets for $5.

So 1000 tickets for $10 or less is not too expensive for most people to afford.|||Because most NBA Players Demand More Money then NFL, NHL, NASCAR and MLB Players combined, You can say NBA Players are greediest Athletes in Professional Sports.|||I live near the Bobcats... the best regular season games cost like 20$, because the 'Cats are so bad... it depends what the team is.|||Last year, I was going to see a Warrior's game and my friend forgot his ticket. What are the odds of an NBA team finishing the season with 82 wins and no loss?

There have been several questions (and discussions) on whether an NBA team can finish a season without a loss. I know there is a very very small possibility but by approximately how much?

Help me out Math wizzes!|||It really depends on how good the team is compared to other teams, and the probability of the team winning any 1 game.

Assuming all teams are pretty much equal, then the probability of winning any one game is 0.5 (50%). Therefore, probability (P) of winning all 82 games is:

P = (0.5)^(82) = 0.000000000000000000000000206795 or

P = 1/4,835,703,278,458,516,698,824,704

Even if the team is really good, and probability of winning any one game is 0.8 (80%), then probability of winning all 82 games is:

P = (0.8)^(82) = 0.000000011307821214581659709333

P = 1/88,434,366

So even with a very good probability of winning any one game, the probability of winning all 82 games is less than 1 in 88 million.|||There are too many unknown conditions to allow a reasonable answer. If the probability of victory in each game were 1/2, then the probability of a sweep season would be 1/2^82, but that simply is not a reasonable condition. Your question is one of applied mathematics. We cannot answer it without data.

If you look back at records from the early days of organized sports, you will be able to find many scores and season records that would be considered unattainable today.
