What does it mean when the NBA waives a preseason player?

The Knicks recently waived three guards and I am unsure of what that means for those three players. Are their NBA careers done now? Can they play in the NBDL? Are they considered for a future position on this team or another?|||It means they are on their own to go out into the job market and find other employment.

Pension is a function of years of play.

They can pay for anyone that will have them doing whatever the team wants them to do.|||No they are just free to go to another team that wants them.|||It means that they are free agents and can sign with another NBA team, sign with the NBDL or go overseas. It's up to them and their agents.|||They will not be on the roster and are free to go anywhere else|||To give up (a claim or right) voluntarily or to relinquish.

In the NBA a waive gives the player freedom to choose another team with no penalites.

In Baseball it's called a trade.

In football, it means you're a free agent.|||Their basically free agents w/the set contract. Who ever picks them up has to pay that amount. Hope U got it
