When was the last time the NBA finals started before the Stanley Cup finals?

Even since I've been an NBA fan the Stanley Cup finals are usually an entire series ahead of the NBA playoffs. So while the NBA is wrapping up their conference finals the NHL is getting started on their finals. This has been the case every year that I can remember (29 year old die hard NBA fan) except this year. Does anyone know why this is? Has this ever happened before?|||Basket is a sport 4 gay.|||Its because the conference finals in the nba only went 5 games each while the east finals in the nhl went 7 games. The finals don't have a preset date its based on when the other series ends so it was just a coincidence that both conference finals in the nba ended early and the nhl went later.|||I was thinking the same exact thing! The Finals NEVER began the day after Memorial Day. If this series is a sweep it could possibly end before school ends! And school ends on June 9. I've remember in years past school usually ends around game 3 or game 4 of the finals. This is definitely a first. I dont even know why this happened though.|||I KNOW,ITS AMAZING. The NHL Season Starts 35 Days Before The NBA Regular Season,And For This To Happen Is Amazing.|||never|||nhl cancelled some games because they thought end of the world
