How come some people say the Pau Gasol trade changed the nba landscape?

A lot of people said that the pau gasol trade not only helped the lakers but changed the entire landscape on the nba. I remember Steve Nash, Mark Cuban, and Gregg Popavich all said that trade changed everything. How is that? How can one trade change the landscape of the entire nba??|||During 05' Lakers has a very weak Post game and

no supports on the team (right after Shaqs' Departure)

and Kobe was the only player responsible for the wins

of the team.

Kwame (one of the below average player on Lakers) was

traded for Gasol (one of the best player) happened and

Lakers has appeared to back to back to back finals (was

able to win 2 out of 3) and has dominated the west ever

since.

the power has shifted to East where there are more talent

just to compete with Lakers in the final (avoiding Playoff)

much like the Bulls druing the 90's|||It's bs. NOBODY wanted Pau Gasol. NOBODY, but now all of a sudden it was a trade that changed everything? It's plain bs. Besides it wasn't as if the Grizzlies didn't get anything out of it. Look at Marc Gasol, the guy is a becoming a top center in the league. Besides if it were the trade of the century the Lakers would have easily won the championship that season, but didn't because another team traded KG to the Celtics (how come no one says anything about that one? You know the one where McHale (former Celtic) got through?) Besides all that, the Lakers already had the best record in the West when they made that trade. One of the reasons Kobe got the MVP that season.|||it made them bigger, stronger and better. they still technically are the best frontline team (gasol and bynum-when healthy and odom) in the nba. the west was wide open at one time-circa about three/four years ago. then the lakeshow got gasol. it made that team 2x better and deeper. first off, they got something for nothing. second, they got a 'young' center/power forward who is probably the best 2nd option in the game. when you combine that with the best 1st option in the game (i'm not a kobe fan, i'm just honest-my team is orlando) it changes everything. everyone was now scrambling to be a powerhouse. in my opinion, it is probably the 'archaic' reason that the guys in miami linked up this summer. look at boston, they were the only team who could pose a legit threat to those dudes....until the next game changer, MIA. trades like that change the nba landscape b/c it forces teams to look hard and themselves, and find out what it TRULY takes to be head n shoulders better than the rest. look at boston, orlando and miami. they are elite teams with the lakers. the rest of the teams are good, but there are only a few that can win a title. trades like this one make the strong teams stronger, and the weaker ones more susceptible to being in the cellar for years to come.|||It moved an established all-star from a struggling team to a number one team, during a season where that number one team lost their center for the year. Pretty much saving the Lakers season and giving them the basis for their current championship run. I would have to say it changed the landscape quite a bit. Lakers don't win any chamipionships without Gasol.|||It was a great trade for the lakers but a terrible one for the nba. To me it was like the new york yankees buying their championship. It was a disgrace and was a good way to cover the bad idea to get rid of shaq and the rape thing so they had to get kobe a new batman.|||it gave la the missing piece they needed to dominate the west for years to come. before that you could pick any team to win the west it was even between phoenix, san antonio and dallas. now its la then a massive gap followed by the other good teams like denver, san antonio, dallas, utah etc.|||Lakers are now dominant with an all star caliber player. Otherwise, Kobe would win like 4 MVPs and never make it pass the second round. I mean. If you looked at it the Lakers made the finals 3 straight times since they got him and the West is tough for the past 3 years too. So the Lakers are now bigger, have a better passer and have more role players from their bench (Lamar Odom)|||Because he gave the lakers so much versitility with his height, speed, and accuracy. It was almost like getting shaq back in his prime for the lakers because of his talent.|||Because it heped the Lakers so much that other teams who were known as the best teams in the league at the time, had to take a backseat.|||Shows how the Lakers cheat to get what they want.|||Kobe finally was able to win a playoff series after Shaq left.|||KOBE BEST|||one of the best and worst trades in the nba|||it made a all-star team in LA

Artest, Kobe %26amp; Gasol
